2 Days package, group of 6 people. April 22th, Akaroa and Banks Peninsula from Christchurch. 8 am. Pick up at your hotel. The harbour town of Akaroa is approximately 90 minutes driving time from Christchurch. Akaroa sits within the eroded crater of an extinct volcano, a small town set in a dramatic landscape of harbour and hills, rich in both French and Maori history. Akaroa’s waters are home to Hector’s Dolphins, the world’s smallest dolphin. The journey from Christchurch explores the volcanic summit road which (on a clear day) affords spectacular views of Christchurch, the Canterbury Plains, Lyttelton and Akaroa harbours. The highway passes through the historic and town of Little River and runs alongside unique wetlands. On arrival in Akaroa your guide will give you a brief orientation of the town before checking you in for your chosen activity. Akaroa with Harbour Cruise Here you can cruise around an extinct volcanic crater and experience majestic scenery and stunning wildlife on daily nature cruises. You will have the chance to view the rare and native dolphin - the Hector's Dolphin, as well as penguins and other sea birds. Lunch will be enjoyed at an award winning harbourside café. If time permits you will have the opportunity to wander around this charming French influenced town and browse it’s museum of settler’s history and art and craft shops. Stops along the way will include, time and weather permitting, Little River Art Gallery, Barry’s Bay cheese factory and Birdlings Flat. Includes morning or afternoon tea. Includes Lunch. Return to the Hotel at 5pm. April 23th, Christchurch full day city tour. 9 am Pick up at your hotel. Perfect for those wanting to experience the highlights, and hidden sights, of our exciting new city. Having picked you up from your inner city hotel we will head to the revitalised City Centre and discuss the rebuild and reinvention of our colourful City, now designed for walking. We will also delve into the history of city and explore the beautiful Botanic Gardens where you will discover why New Zealand’s flora and fauna is unique. Stops will include Cathedral Square, the River Precinct (including Riverside Market), the Transitional Cathedral (Cardboard Cathedral) and the Tannery. Lunch will be taken in a local cafe or Restaurant. Please note the order of activities will be dependent of pick up/drop off points and weather. Return to Hotel 4.30 pm. Lunch included.
